“Any philosophy rooted in materialism and humanism, i.e. the primacy of rationalism and the ideological placement of man at the privileged center of the universe, necessarily promotes privilege, hierarchy, and domination, and puts human beings at odds with each other and with Nature. Revolutionary Animism holds that rather than seek solutions within the same paradigm that brought us to a place of inequality, coercion, and dynamics of delirious and autophagic growth, we must turn our attention back to the ever-present ground-of-all-being.”
Ben Morea has been a musician, painter, the publisher of Black Mask (1966-1968), a member of the anarchist Up Against the Wall Motherfucker (1968-1969), and was part of the exodus in the late-60’s away from urban life into mountains, communes, and farms. Following both Hurricane Harvey and the movement at Standing Rock, Ben would like to discuss the necessity to see the world and ourselves differently in order to make real change.

Revolutionärer Animismus
“Jede Philosophie, die im Materialismus und Humanismus, das heisst dem Vorrang des Rationalismus und der ideologischen Platzierung des Menschen im privilegierten Zentrum des Universums verwurzelt ist, fördert notwendigerweise Privilegien, Hierarchie und Herrschaft und setzt die Menschen gegeneinander und gegen die Natur. Der revolutionäre Animismus hält dies an, anstelle dass es nach Lösungen in demselben Paradigma, das uns zu einem Ort der Ungleichheit, des Zwangs und der Dynamik des irrenden und selbst verzerrenden Wachstums führte. Wir müssen unsere Aufmerksamkeit wieder dem allgegenwärtigen Grunde-allen-Seins zukehren.”
Ben Morea war Musiker, Maler, und Verleger von «Black Mask» (1966-1968), ein Mitglied der Anarchist_innen «Up Against the Wall Motherfucker» (1968-1969) und war Teil des Exodus in den späten 60er Jahren – weg vom städtischen Leben in die Berge, Gemeinden und Bauernhöfe. Nach dem Hurrikan Harvey und der Bewegung am Standing Rock möchte Ben die Notwendigkeit besprechen, die Welt und uns selbst anders zu sehen, um echte Veränderung hervor zu bringen.
